Hi my name is Cody Gosselin I am from Massachusetts, and I am a senior at West Boylston Middle High School. I play/watch Football, Baseball, and Basketball. For college next year I am going to Virginia Tech and majoring in Mathematics. I did my blog post on the NBA finals because it is my favorite sport to watch with how completive it is. My favorite team is the Boston Celtics and I hope that they win the NBA finals. This blog will be walking you through the NBA finals and what happens to each team and what they would need to do to win.

First Game of the Finals
Big upset in the first game of the NBA playoffs
The first games of NBA playoffs were April 16th and April 17th there was only 1 upset during the first games. it was when the number 7 seed the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the number 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies 130-117. Antony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Malik Beasley all were a big factor for the first round win for the Timberwolves. Antony Edwards being a starter had 36 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists. Karl-Anthony Towns also being a starter had 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists. Malik Beasley was a big contributor by coming off the bench and scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. If the Timberwolves keep playing like this then they will be able to take out the number 2 seed Memphis in the first round of the playoffs.

The Suns were leading the series 1-0 going into game 2 when one of there best players Devin Booker, that averaged 26.8 points a game during the regular season, in the third quarter he tour his hamstring. After he got hurt the suns ended up losing the game and the series is tied at 1-1. Booker is predicted to not play in games 3,4, and 5. Are the suns going to be able to defeat the Pelicans in this 7 game series with the suns being handy caped. After the injury of Devin Booker the suns were able to defeat the pelicans in game 3 with the help of Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton. Chris Paul being a veteran with 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 14 assists. Deandre Ayton being new to the league also had 28 points, 17 rebounds and 1 assist. Are the suns going to be able to pull off another win with out one of there best players?

The Nets vs. the Celtics was going to be a big game since a lot of people thought that the Nets were going to with the champion chip in the beginning of the season. The Nets have a very good scorer Kevin Durant and a good point guard Kyrie Irving that can score when they need him to. Going into the playoffs the Celtics were playing very good and that they were the higher seed at 2 when the nets were a seed of 7. The Celtics won the series in a 4-0 fashion. People think that it was the Celtics defense that won them the game but there defense was average. What won the Celtics the game was that they were always scoring on the Nets defense. All the games in the series ended in 100+ points for both of the teams, 115-114, 114-107, 109-103, and 116-112. The scores show that the Celtics defense was better then the Nets considering the Celtics won the series.

The fist Big series of round 2 is going to be the Celtics vs. the Bucks This is going to be a big series because the Celtics just came off a big 4-0 sweep and they are facing the remaining champions the bucks. The bucks are going into the series with out one of there best players Khris Middleton. The Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers is going to be a good series as well. with the Heat being the number 1 seed and the 76ers being the 4 seed this series is going to be good. The next match up is the Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies. This will be a good match up because Golden State is the 3rd seed when the Grizzlies is ranked 2nd. The final series is the Phoenix Suns playing against the Dallas Mavericks. The series will be good but the Suns that are ranked number 1 is favored to win over the ranked 4 Mavericks.

The Philadelphia 76ers just came off a series win against the Toronto Raptors by wining the series 4-2. In the seconded round they are playing the Miami Heat where they just beat the Atlanta Hawks 4-1 in the series. This series was going to be close because both teams are very good and it was going to go the distance, but in game 6 of the first round series Joel Embiid got injured. He suffered a right orbital fracture and a mild concussion. this injury puts Joel out for the whole series. The injury isn’t good for the 76ers because Joel was a big factor for the 76ers averaging 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assist. This injruy will hurt the 76ers a lot going into the second round of the playoffs. Will the 76ers be able to pull this off with there best player being injered.

The Phoenix Suns are out for revenge because last year the lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the finals. So this year they are trying to make there way back to the finals and with the NBA finals. But first they need to beat the Dallas Mavericks who just beat the Utah Jazz 4-2 in the first round. The Suns are favored to win this series Being the number 1 seed and the Mavericks being the number 4. The Mavericks had a record of 52 wins and 30 losses during the regular season when the Suns had a record of 64 wins and 18 losses witch is the best record in the whole NBA. The Mavericks will have a tuff time taking down the Suns. The Phoenix Suns averaged 112.7 points per game when the Dallas Mavericks averaged 106 points. So will the Suns make it back to the NBA finals and win the championship?

Golden state has been looking very good with one of there best players Klay Thompson that has been out for almost a whole year due to injury’s. Golden States win loss record during the regular season was 53-29 where they are ranked 3rd in the western conference. when the Memphis Grizzles are 56-26 during the regular season and the are 2nd in there conference. This series is going to be very good and completive because the Grizzles haven’t been in the conference finals in a wile and Steph Curry and golden state are trying to climb up and win another championship. The golden State worriers are in favor to win this match up but in the NBA playoffs anything can happen. Will golden state be able to take down the grizzles or will the grizzles take down golden state.

The Celtics just came off a 4-0 sweep against the Nets in round 1 of the playoffs. Now in round 2 they are facing the defending champs the Milwaukee Bucks The Celtics have been looking very good this season mostly because there defense has been very good and there offence has been able to win them games with how good there defense is. The Bucks are also a very good team with the last years MVP on there team they have been very strong during the season. This series will be very good Because the Celtics are ranked 2 in the eastern conference with 51 wins and 31 losses. The Milwaukee Bucks also had 51 wins and 31 losses in the regular season. so this series is going to see who is the better team and who will make it to the eastern conference finals.

The Phoenix suns against the Dallas Mavericks. I think that the Phoenix suns will win 4-2, and they will win because I think that the suns are the better team. The next match up is Miami Heat against the Philadelphia 76ers. In my opinion I think that the Heat will win due to what happened to one of the 76ers best players and how he got hurt. So I think that the Heat will win 4-1 in the series. Next matchup is the Golden State worriers playing the Memphis grizzles. I think that the Golden State Worriers will win this series 4-2 with the series being close. The final series of the round 2 playoffs is the Boston Celtics playing the Milwaukie Bucks I think that this series will be very close because of how the Celtics have been looking and that the Bucks are the raining champs. So I think that it will come down to the wire and it will be 4-3 and the Celtics will win the series.

The Memphis Grizzles are up against the Golden state worriers in the NBA play offs. The grizzles are currently down in the series 3-1 so if Golden State wins 1 more game then the Grizzles are kicked out of the playoffs. For the Grizzles to win the Series they need to work as a team and Help out Ja Morant who averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. For the Grizzles to win they will need to shut down the Splash Brothers (Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson). Stephen Curry Averaged during the regular season 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assist also when his teammate Klay Thompson averaged 20.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists a game. The grizzles will need to shut down them and play as a team if they want to win this series.

The Celtics are currently tied in the series 2-2 and they just came off a good win last night 116-108. Can the Celtics keep this momentum into the rest of the series? The way that they can close off this series is of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen brown, and Robert Williams III. Jayson Tatum averages 26.9 points,8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists this regular season. Jaylen Brown had 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in the regular season. Finally Robert Williams III who was a big part of the Celtics defense with an average of 2.2 blocks and 9.6 rebounds per game. the Celtics will be able to take down the bucks if they can stop the raining finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo who averaged 29.9 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. Can the Celtics take down the Bucks?

The Celtics were down in the series 3-2 going into game 6 at Milwaukee. This was going to be a tuff game for the Celtics to win but if they won they they would have had the last game game 7 at home witch would be in favor of the Celtics. the Celtics beat the bucks 108-95, This win was big for them because if the lost then they would have been kicked out of the playoffs. After they won that game the last game of the series was at Boston so the Celtics were favored to win. The defense that the Celtics had the past 2 games was very good and that they were able to shut down the bucks best player. Now the Celtics is going to the conference finals playing a very good Miami Heat team who just beat the 76ers 4-2 in the series. I think that if the Celtics keep playing like they have been then I think that they could win the series 4-2 in a close series and go to the NBA finals.

The Mavericks were the under dogs in this series being the 4 seed playing the number 1 seed the Suns, this was going to be a tuff match up for the Mavericks. Going into game 6 the Mavs were down 3-2 playing home and they beat the Suns 113-86. After that win the Mavericks had to go to the Suns home court and beat them again. Witch indeed they did they beat them by a lot at half time the Suns were down by 30 points. the final score to the game was 123-90. Now the Mavericks go on to face the Golden State Warriors Witch should be a good and close series. I think that the Mavericks will put up a good fight against the Warriors but I think that the Warriors will win 4-3 in the series.

Who I think will be in the finals is the Golden State Worriers against the Boston Celtics. This will be a very good series because the Celtics will just get of a win against the Heat and the Worriers will get of a close series to the Mavericks. This series is going to go back and forth and be very close. There will be high scoring games and some low scoring games because the defense is going to be what wins these teams the games. I think that the Celtics is going to play better defense then the Worriers and I think that the Celtics will win the series 4-3 and be the 2022 NBA champions.
